Make a Difference for Cancer Children and Their Families
Throughout the years, audaxes has been actively engaging in social initiatives and supporting charity organizations. This year, audaxes has made a donation to Essener Elterninitiative zur Unterstützung krebskranker Kinder e.V. – a charity association based in Essen dedicated to helping children with cancer and their families.
Established in 1983, the charity provides a wide range of services to families facing childhood cancer, including accommodation near the University Hospital Essen, emotional and psychological support, music and art therapies, financial aids, memorial events, and so on. A core service provided by Essener Elterninitiative zur Unterstützung krebskranker Kinder e.V. is the “Family House”, which offers 28 apartments for parents to stay close to their children during cancer treatment. The operation of the Family House is run by the non-profit board of directors, workers at the house, and volunteers. The association’s funding relies entirely on donations, memberships, and fundraising events. To learn more about Essener Elterninitiative zur Unterstützung krebskranker Kinder e.V, please visit their website, Facebook, or Instagram.
On 4 December 2024, the audaxes team visited the Family House. That evening, the workers and volunteers were preparing for a festive event for cancer children and their families on St. Nicholas Day. The house was adorned with cheerful Christmas decorations and was filled with the aroma of Christmas cookies. Ms. Lara Krieger, Chief Executive at the Family House, explained to us the services and support they provide to families with cancer children, the daily operations of the Family House, and the challenges the association faces.
We would like to call for everyone to support Essener Elterninitiative zur Unterstützung krebskranker Kinder e.V. to continue and expand their meaningful services. Whether it is donation, volunteering, or spreading the word about the association, your contribution makes a difference for cancer children and families in their treatment journey.
